  • Description

In a world driven by consumption, extraction, and disconnection, Rebecoming Custodians offers a different path—one that has always been there, waiting for us to remember. This immersive documentary series follows award-winning photographer and storyteller Andrew Deacon as he journeys through Indigenous lands, sitting with Elders, wisdom keepers, and traditional custodians who carry the knowledge of what it truly means to be human.

From the sacred songlines of Australia to the jungles of the Amazon, from the Arctic tundra to the African savannah, each episode explores how Indigenous cultures have sustained thriving ecosystems for millennia through reciprocity, ceremony, and respect for the land. In the process, Andrew weaves together personal reflections, teachings from his mentor Dig Jones, and the living voices of Indigenous communities worldwide.

More than a documentary, Rebecoming Custodians is an invitation—one that calls viewers to step beyond Western thinking, to listen deeply, and to reclaim their role as caretakers of the Earth. The series blends cinematic storytelling with raw, unscripted moments of Indigenous life, bringing forth a conversation long overdue: how do we return to our rightful place in the web of life?
