As you look into the hearth of the flame, what do you see? In the background of each page, inviting you around the fire is sandtalk, painting, story that welcomes you to country of a feature artist. You can see the subtlty behind each word, you can hear the sounds of the campfire they sit beside crack, the country speaking to you through this space.
This is the Visions and Voices Residecny Program. Each month, we select a renowned artist whose captivating artwork becomes the backdrop campfire, immersing you in their unique vision and storytelling, welcoming you to this digital campfire.

The Feature Art Residency program goes beyond showcasing artwork; it creates a space for meaningful connections between artists and audiences. By featuring Indigenous artists and amplifying their voices, we honor and uplift their stories, traditions, and perspectives. Through this program, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation for Indigenous art and culture, while also providing artists with a platform to share their work and connect with a global audience.

We believe that art is multi-dimensional and that it can come alive through various mediums. That’s why we accompany the featured artwork with audio recordings from the artist’s native lands, taking you on a virtual journey around the campfire. Through these immersive audio experiences, you’ll have the opportunity to hear the artist’s voice, their stories, and the cultural significance behind their creations.

The Feature Artist program is an immersive journey into the world of Indigenous creativity, where we not only showcase the artwork but also engage in meaningful conversations with the artists themselves. It begins with a thoughtful selection process, where we seek out renowned Indigenous artists from diverse communities, representing a range of artistic styles and cultural backgrounds.

Once an artist is chosen, we initiate a dialogue, connecting with them to understand their inspiration, artistic process, and the stories woven into their creations. We believe in the power of storytelling, and these conversations provide us with valuable insights into the artist’s worldview, their connection to their ancestral lands, and the cultural significance embedded in their art.

The artists work is showcased in physical exhibitions and galleries, specially at the one. fire festival where the work is displayed, and using our partnership with NGARRA use their platform for silent auction, providing funding to the community of the artist, providing an opportunity for people to experience the beauty and depth of Indigenous art in person. These exhibitions can be held in art galleries, cultural centers, museums, and other public spaces, allowing a wider audience to engage with and appreciate the artwork.
